"I'm sorry I've been such a fucking crappy dad," he said. He just barely hesitates on the word "fuck."
He starts sobbing and I can't even look at him, I have to cover my face. My head is in my hands.
So I sit there, and he tells me how important I am to him, and how we need to communicate. He tells me how he never thought his life would end up like this, how in his 20s and 30s he never thought his family would be like this. He's sobbing and my face is under my bath towel. I can't move, I can't say anything, I can't go and hug him, I can't tell him how much I love him, I can't tell him sorry; he apologizes.
I don't say a word, I'm playing dead. I can hear him stand up and he hugs me and his beard is scratchy and it hurts and he leaves like I hoped he would.
As soon as the door closes, I blow my nose into my towel and let it fall off my face. I look into the mirror and all I see is my dad.

Broken Drum - Beck

Tuesday, June 15
I see you there
Your long black hair
Your eyes just stare
Your mind is turning

You know I'll laugh
And I won't take it back
I've seen your eyes I know
What you're thinking

And one by one
We'll shoot our guns
We'll have fun
Don't ever doubt it

And when I say
Fare thee well
My only friend
Oh how the days go

Your setting sun
Your broken drum
Your little drugs

I'll never forget you
Never
Forget
You

Just remembered I had a dream last night that my sunflowers had grown really, really large. No flowers, though, just really long, hairy stalks.
Too bad I won't be here to see them either way, I wish I'd planted them earlier cause soon enough they might as well be dead to me.

"In The Morning Before Work," by Owen, is a song I've been listening to on repeat lately. It makes me feel worse but a little better at the same time. And one'd think there'd be some sort of net profit or some overall effect but no, I guess emotions don't work that way and I just feel all mixed up.
The image of Mr. Hogan's face definitely just popped into my head, gr8.
Damn those buggy eyes.

One more month of high school, please.

Went on a spontaneous trip to the Getty with my dad today, we were supposed to go to church but we were too late. They did have a pretty interesting Old Testament exhibit, though, so I think that should count. Also saw a neato photography exhibit. Neato neato neato.
Both of us were pretty tired but I think we enjoyed each other's company; we usually end up arguing about something stupid and today we kind of started quarreling a bit in the cafe (literally about something that happened 10 years ago, something about a kid squishing ketchup on his pants) but I think we simultaneously and mutually decided it wasn't really worth it.
I did feel a little distracted today, though, and I tried not to worry about it too much, but I'll miss everyone a lot.

Felt angsty, but I doodled a bit and listened to music a bit and read a bit and slept a lot and I'll be okay.
